Calder's Ceramics Community
If you’re a bit of a perfectionist like me and love the idea of creating perfectly round, symmetrical pieces, wheel throwing is for you! There’s nothing quite like the soothing, tactile feel of wet clay spinning through your hands :)
Lessons in this course:
Do you love working with your hands and keeping things simple, without too many tools or machines? With handbuilding, you can create organic, flowing shapes that have that beautiful handmade look you won’t find in stores!
Are you drawn to clean, geometric forms? Or perhaps you’d like to experiment with organic shapes while still achieving that handmade charm? With slab building, you can craft unique creations by shaping and assembling flat slabs of clay, perfect for exploring your creativity!
Discover all the exciting ways to decorate your ceramics after they’ve been bisque-fired! Whether you enjoy painting intricate designs with underglazes or layering multiple glazes for stunning effects, this is where you’ll unlock your decorating potential :)
In this video I’m showing you how to make a bird feeder out of clay. I throw it in two pieces, which I hang on top of each other later on. I explain the full process, so trimming and glazing is included. The birds liked it, I hope you do too!
